A February of hearts, #thetapestryheart

The tapestry heart project has been a lot of fun. I am still seeing hearts out there being woven, and quite frankly have one more in my head I haven't gotten to yet. Thank you to everyone who has participated so far. Keep weaving! The more love we send out into the world, the better. I am happy to add more photos to this post, so if you have a woven heart image you'd like to see here, send it my way! And if you have a story to go along with it, I'd love to hear it.

Alison Hynd's heart came from this photograph. I just love how this landscape photo from a plane became a wonderful geography-inspired heart. Notice how she used pick and pick in the green to recreate the green of the landscape.

This project has brought out so many great ideas. Take a look at how Cooky Schock mounted her heart. How you finish and display a piece can really enhance or change the feeling of the work.

And I sat down one evening (and a few subsequent evenings) and tried my hand at free-handing these little balloon hearts. It was fun and weaving this way without a cartoon definitely stretches your spatial skills. You just have to be willing to let go of perfectionism and have fun with it. The piece is off the loom but the finishing needs to be completed... final pictures coming eventually!
