I have lost track of how long I’ve been doing a live meet-up on YouTube every weekday morning, but I suspect tomorrow makes it 3 weeks. It seems like just a day ago that Colorado got stay-at-home orders and also like an eternity. Time is so different when routines change so drastically.
Change the Shed is what I’ve called this 30-minute daily tapestry check-in. I’ve heard from so many of you that it is helpful and I’ll keep doing it because it is helpful for me too. I do love talking about tapestry weaving. The subjects are varied and depend somewhat on whatever weaving I’ve put on the table that day. We’ve talked about yarns and techniques and tools and not much at all about the wider world (thankfully). If you want a little update on what it is and how to join in, you’ll find all the information HERE. Every weekday at 10:30 am Mountain on YouTube.
Today’s broadcast looked a little like this.
I warped that loom up yesterday with a 14 inch Fringeless warp. I have only a vague idea of what I’ll weave with it, but I wanted to do some more experimenting with a yarn I’m testing (the white) and I dug out some of that “special” yarn I’ve been saving for something like a lengthy stay-at-home order: EPiC.
Subjects of these chats end up being wide-ranging. For example, I brought out the cinta a friend sent me from Guatemala because I’m fascinated by these traditional hair ties. Then I grabbed Deborah Chandler’s book about Guatemalan textiles (see THIS post for more about the book and cinta) and at some point I found myself talking about Franklin Habit’s yarn coloring book. All good fun for a Thursday morning.
I’m not sure what tomorrow will bring, but I’m sure it will be fun. I have plans for the weekend. Colorado got a foot of snow last night on the front range with it still coming down. I might make a village of snow people but it is more likely I’ll do some weaving.
Weave with me and don’t forget to show us what you’re making at #changetheshed.
