July 5, 2023 is HERE. Today I worked on the American Dipper tapestry which is an example for Summer of Tapestry 2023. I talked about some of the choices I was making as I was weaving in terms of color and weft bundling, shedding issues, and how we mostly aren’t able to achieve the dream in our head when making art.

Crushing the Butterfly

This is the blog post I referred to with the quote by Ann Patchett from her book of essays, The Story of a Happy Marriage, about making art. https://rebeccamezoff.com/blog/2014/04/crushing-butterfly.html

American Tapestry Alliance

I mentioned the American Tapestry Biennial 14 which is currently in Tennessee until July 20th. You can get a catalog from ATA HERE.

Fringeless: Four Selvedge Warping

If you’re interested in four-selvedge warping in a way that gives you a great shed the whole time your’e weaving, consider the online class Sarah Swett taught on my platform called Fringeless. I pipe in with some information about doing this on a Mirrix, but most of the teaching is done by Sarah. More info is HERE.

Materials resources on my website

If you’re curious where I get some of the tools and materials I use, check out this page of my website: https://rebeccamezoff.com/resources

Tapestry loom course

If you are trying to figure out what tapestry loom might be best for you, this short course might be exactly what you need to help you make the best choices. Tapestry Looms Simplified.

Tapestry Discovery Box #3

This box ships July 15th and the course information opens then also. You can find more information HERE.

September 6, 2023 is HERE. Today I worked on the American Dipper tapestry which I swore was going to be done when last we met in July, but alas, it is not. We discussed weft bundling, eccentric weaving versus weaving perpendicular to the warp, and building up shapes.

Live chat with Sarah C. Swett September 7th

This live chat with Sarah is on YouTube 9/7/23 at 11am MT. It will be recorded and you can find it on my YouTube channel. Go HERE to find the live feed.

Blog posts about the dogs

Instead of going on about Sal and Beau, you can read about Sal and Beau HERE and HERE and I’ve added some updates to my newsletter which you can sign up for HERE.

September 20, 2023 is HERE. In this episode I cut off four small tapestries from various looms. The were woven with four different yarns and used four different looms so I talk about both the yarn and the looms as I am cutting them off. I also wove a bit on the first bird tapestry at the end.

Products I mentioned (I do not get any financial reimbursement for mentioning any of these products with the exception of the Rebecca Package on the Mirrix site for which I get some free looms occasionally! I mention these products because they are good tools or materials that I have used myself.)

Live interview with Sarah C. Swett from September 7

This chat was so fun. Sarah is full of joy and we had a great time. You can watch the replay HERE.

Taos Wools Festival

October 7, 2023 in Taos. I’ll be teaching October 3-5. The workshop is currently full, but if you want to be on the waiting list just in case, contact Joe at Taos Wools. The festival is October 7th and you can find out all about it HERE.

Nearly Wild Weaving

Anna and Irene run a wonderful business that offers classes often outside and includes an interview program called Tapestry in Conversation where they do well researched interviews with contemporary tapestry artists. Find their website HERE.

What makes a good tapestry yarn? online class

This was the online workshop that I was trying to come up with the name for! You can find out more and sign up HERE.

September 21, 2023 is HERE. I did a very short addendum to the September 21 CTS to add the cutting off of the bird tapestry. I’d like to add that the weft yarn for that tapestry is Gist Array.

November 1, 2023 is HERE. Today was the first Change the Shed in the new studio. It was not nearly as set up as I had hoped it would be and in true moving form, I lost one of the yarn colors I needed for the weaving even though it had been on the table the night before. I thought it might be ghosts but found the yarn a minute after the broadcast ended in a bag where it had fallen undoubtedly when I knocked it off the table setting up the computer equipment.

In this episode I talk about shape building some and worked on this Dipper tapestry yet again. I hope to have it done soon, but moving has really thrown a wrench into all my weaving plans of late.

Sarah Swett’s The Gusset and Tucking the Tails

I talked about a small publication/guide that Sarah Swett did called Tucking the Tails which you can get on her website. I also recommended following her substack newsletter The Gusset.

My blog

It is still there and has a lot of free tapestry information on it as well as ramblings about all sorts of other things tapestry adjacent.

Molly Elkind

We talked about a spiral piece Molly is working on right now. She posts to Facebook about that. Her page is HERE. I am not seeing the images that I was thinking about on that page. But they are on her Instagram feed HERE.

The missing cone of yarn

I found this cone of yarn about 60 seconds after the broadcast ended…
