Wednesday, October 14, 2020 is HERE. I wove on the Arras loom on a double sett piece though I’m still working on the 8 epi part. This is the Handbasket piece. Lots of eccentric split weft outlining today. I also talked about my book The Art of Tapestry Weaving again and the push back in publication.

Damascus Fiber Arts School Lecture about my book

I’ll be giving a talk about my book on Tuesday, October 20th at 10am PST (Pacific) on Zoom. The replay can be watched HERE. You can see more book launch events as I add them on THIS page of my website.

Wednesday, October 28 is HERE. I wove on the same double sett piece (Handbasket) though I redid what I did two weeks ago. I talked about why I started over and showed the new design. I began working on the 16 epi portion and talked about how to manage the double sett.

Wednesday, November 11, 2020 is HERE. I worked on the Handbasket double sett tapestry and started weaving letters.

Hill and Valley and Cutback videos

I talked about cutbacks and hill and valley threads in this episode and mentioned that I had added new content to one of my online courses. That course is Part 2 of Warp and Weft which has six new videos as of last month about angles, hill and valley thread use, and cutbacks.

Launch webinar recordings

The replay videos for my book launch videos are HERE.

Wednesday, November 18, 2020 is HERE. I worked on the Handbasket tapestry again and talked about filling in around shapes in the two setts as well as sewing slits and advancing the tapestry.

Sand in my Shoes video

Someone brought up the video I have used for guild lectures over the last few years. I’ve updated it and put it on Vimeo so guilds can show it more easily. But anyone else is also welcome to rent it. https://rebeccamezoff.com/sand-in-my-shoes-video

Suzanne Pretty, tapestry artist

Someone brought up Suzanne Pretty and I wanted to link to her work which is largely about environmental subjects. Her website is https://www.suzannepretty.com/.

Sewing slits

Details about how I sew slits are in the Warp and Weft and Weaving Tapestry on Little Looms online courses.

Wednesday, November 25, 2020 is HERE. I worked on the Handbasket tapestry again and did some eccentric outlining including using split weft. I also showed how to fill in a low area.

Untangled: The Crafty Sheep’s Guide to Tapestry Weaving

This self-published book of tapestry tips is only available from me (except that Mirrix looms also carries it). You can order it from my Shop page.

Wednesday, December 9, 2020 is HERE. I worked on one of the fire regeneration tapestries (3 x 3 inches, 12 epi). I struggled with value and available yarns for the next part of the design so if you want to hear what happens in my brain choosing yarns, this is a good one. Cameron Peak Fire.

Wednesday, December 16, 2020 is HERE. I worked on the same tapestry as last week. I talked some about my frustration with weaving this for various reasons and also about when I decide to forge on because I don’t know how it will look until I do so. “Working in series” or “Learning Experience” tapestries are useful! There were issues with value and also with a complicated part of the design.
