Writing my first book
Writing a book is a pretty big undertaking. I have learned this firsthand while working on two book projects over the last several years. I am happy to say that after a very steep learning curve, my first book is now ready for purchase.*
Untangled: A Crafty Sheep’s Guide to Tapestry Weaving has been several years in the making. The idea came from a student in a workshop I taught at the Michigan League of Handweavers Conference in 2015. Marg heard me describing yet another little trick I like to use when weaving tapestry and she said I should write a book about those tips. So I did.
I happen to know a fantastic children’s book illustrator, Molly McNeece, who was interested in the project. Molly is my first cousin and this project has become a wonderful collaboration. The book is dedicated to our grandmother, Marian Mezoff, who encouraged us to be artists when we were kids.
Apparently the tote full of crayons worked Grandma.
This 9 inch square book with a sewn hardcover binding contains short tips about things like weft tension, meet and separate, splicing, using the split weft technique and more. It is not a comprehensive tapestry techniques book but it is a fantastic addition to any weaving library. The illustrations are hilarious. In fact they’re so good you may want to get a copy for your favorite budding young weaver also.
Now that I have figured out all the details of how to write and self-published a book, I’m thrilled to offer it to all of you.
A few details about purchase:

You can find more facts and images about the book on this page: https://rebeccamezoff.com/untangled
For the time being I’m doing fulfillment myself which means that I’m only shipping two days a week. Please be patient with this schedule and plan ahead to order your copy.
This was a short printing run, so get your copy while they are available.
I will be away from home teaching and working on my other book for the first three weeks of September 2019 and will have to close the shop then, so order before August 29 to get your copy.
*A few of your were able to purchase it last year before I ran into some serious issues with the print-on-demand publisher I was using. This is the same book printed by a regular publisher, so if you bought one in 2018, this is the same book!
